The research school was started with a generous grant from Vetenskapsrådet, and is now financed by yearly tuition fees. Financing largely goes to courses.

What MedBioInfo provides

• support for course teachers and organisers
• a structured schedule for announcing course dates and assignments
• expectations for examination, course evaluation and quality improvement
• reimbursement handled via the home university invoicing process
• a stable national framework for specialised doctoral training in bioinformatics

For teachers and organisers, the residential portion of a course should be fixed at least six months before the course starts, and students should receive notification at least two months in advance. Assignments should normally be announced one month before course start.

Courses must include an examination, typically pass/fail assignments or reports. Course evaluations and a short quality-improvement reflection should be provided after each edition.

We pay 125000kr, for courses that are 100% financed by us. In addition, we reimburse up to 350kr per teacher and per MedBioInfo student, for a social event associated with the course. For courses primarily funded by other research schools, we offer 60000kr for reserved spots for our students. For a social event, we will match the amount offered by that research school, or if that amount is zero, then we again offer 350kr.
